Inception “patch-in-a-patch” GNSS antenna recognized for its innovative design and functionality
SAN DIEGO – Dec. 12, 2024 – Taoglas®, a trusted provider of antennas and IoT components, announces that the company’s Inception HP5354.A* antenna was named a 2024 Elektra Awards winner in the “Excellence in Product Design (High-Reliability Systems)” category. The annual Elektra Awards, presented by Electronics Weekly, recognize the most outstanding achievements in the global electronics industry.
“Taoglas is truly honored to be recognized in the 2024 Elektra Awards program,” said Baha Badran, Global Head of Engineering at Taoglas. “This award win is a testament to the ingenuity of our engineering team to think beyond traditional antenna design standards. Inception— the first of its kind—reimagines a traditional stacked patch antenna by recessing the second antenna within the first. This allows customers to move to dual band without changing the footprint, size, or height of their current single band GNSS antenna.”
Inception* is a GNSS L1/L5 ultra-low-profile patch-in-a-patch antenna. The HP5354.A* offers dual-band stacked patch performance in a standard 35 x 35 x 4 mm form factor. The passive, dual-feed surface mount design (SMD) reduces antenna height by 50% and decreases weight, making it an ideal solution for GNSS/ GPS applications demanding precision and accuracy with limited space. This patent-pending advancement enables the integration of multi-band GNSS functionality into devices with limited space, opening new possibilities for precise positioning applications.
